We thank all who participated in the Jasper's Basic Mechanisms of the Epilepsies Workshops held in Yosemite National Park, March 4-8, 2019
For the past 5 decades, the Jasper’s Basic Mechanisms of the Epilepsies (BME) Workshops has provided a unique opportunity for basic research scientists in epilepsy to assess where the field of epilepsy has been, what it has accomplished, and where it should go. A successful series of workshops was completed in Yosemite in March 2019, stimulating a new intellectual ferment in understanding the genetic, molecular, cellular, and systems mechanisms of the epilepsies.

Previous similar workshops have led to the publication of four editions of the leading textbook in the field, Jasper’s Basic Mechanisms of the Epilepsies. Having completed 2019 Yosemite workshops, we are now planning the fifth edition of Jasper's Basic Mechanisms of the Epilepsies. Five senior editors are responsible for the organization and editing of the textbook, assisted by 10 associate editors.
The book not only addresses fundamental epilepsy research but also emphasizes the translation of new knowledge of epilepsy disease mechanisms into new strategies for epilepsy treatment. |
